With a personal budget (pgb), you can arrange the Health support you need yourself. For more information, please contact your local municipality or the Social Insurance Bank (SVB).

Do you have a question about support? Discuss this with a municipal employee.
Perhaps the general services provided by Buurtteams are a good solution for you. If so, you will not need a PGB.

Approach

How to apply for a personal budget (pgb):

  • Go to the Social Insurance Bank website. Here you can see what the application for each type of personal budget looks like.

Costs

In most cases, you will have to pay a personal contribution.

The CAK determines the amount of your personal contribution.

Description

The personal budget (pgb) is an amount that you can spend on Health support. For example, you can choose who you hire to help with household chores. This could be a professional, but also a neighbor or a family member. With a PGB, you can also buy a different stair lift or mobility scooter than the one provided by the municipality. Or you can use a PGB to purchase youth assistance.

There are four types of personal budgets for Health support from:

  • youth assistance
  • Social Support Act (Wmo)
  • Long-Term Health Act Health Wlz)
  • Health Insurance Act (Zvw)

You will not receive the contribution in your bank account. This means you do not pay the healthcare providers yourself. You instruct the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) to pay your healthcare providers. You are responsible for keeping records of the Health have purchased. The SVB pays healthcare insurers on the basis of an invoice, a timesheet, or a monthly payment.

You can also use the personal budget (pgb) to Health in other EU countries.

Requirements

Requirements applying for a personal budget (pgb) include:

  • You are registered with a Dutch municipality.
  • You are PGB-proficient. This means, for example, that you know what Health need and how to make effective arrangements with a healthcare provider. You are also able to keep records.

You may ask for help from someone in your own circle or a formal representative. You can read more about this on the Rijksoverheid website.

Please note: When allocating a personal budget, the municipality will request a certificate of good conduct (VOG) from the care provider.
