Keeping bees
Do you want to keep bees for your profession or hobby? You may need an exemption.
Approach
This is how you apply for a waiver to keep bees:
- Go to the Environment Counter.
- Do the permit check.
- You will see if you need a waiver. You can apply for the waiver right away.
- Log in:
- for yourself: with DigiD
- For a company: with eRecognition
- You supply:
- A situation sketch with floor plan and photos if necessary
- information on the number of bees or hives
- information about protective measures you take to protect others from your bees (e.g., a high fence)
Cost
Keeping bees is free.
Description
Other people may be inconvenienced if you keep bees. This is why there are special rules for keeping bees. If you cannot abide by these rules, you need an exemption.
Terms
The conditions for keeping bees without a waiver are:
- You keep the bees at least 30 meters from the road.
- You keep the bees at least 30 meters from a home or other buildings where people are during the day.
- You own the surrounding buildings.
Are you unable to comply with the conditions? Then you can apply for an exemption.
Term
The municipality decides within 8 weeks of receiving your application. The municipality may extend this deadline once.
Objection and appeal
You can object to the decision on your application. Do this within 6 weeks. Do you then disagree with the decision on the objection? Then file an appeal with the court.
