How to apply for a disabled parking permit:

  • You can apply for a disabled parking permit at your local municipality.
  • You will need:
    • a copy of your valid ID
    • 1 recent and clear passport photo
    • a copy of your driver's license (for a driver card)

  • €122.55 for an application (or renewal) with or without a medical examination

Description

With a disabled parking permit, you can park in disabled parking spaces in 31 countries in Europe. There are 3 different Maps:

  • Driver card (B): Do you have a disability and do you drive yourself? Then you can apply for a driver card. The Map not Map a license plate number. You can use the Map any car.
  • Passenger card (P): Do you have a disability and are you dependent on transportation by others? Then you can apply for a passenger card.
  • Institution card (I): This allows healthcare institutions to transport residents with disabilities.

The driver card and passenger card are registered in your name. Map only you can use the Map . You can use the Map with any vehicle. It does not have a license plate number.

If you are sometimes a driver and sometimes a passenger, you can apply for a combination card. You then Map a Map for both situations. 

Requirements

The main Requirements applying for a disabled parking permit for a driver or passenger are:

  • You can't run 100 meters in a row and
  • You drive the vehicle yourself (driver card), or
  • You are dependent on the driver's assistance from door to door (passenger card). 

A medical examination may be part of your application.
Do you already have a disabled parking permit? If so, renew it in good time. You may need a new medical examination. Apply for renewal at least 2 months before your disabled parking permit expires.

Term

The municipality will decide on your application within eight weeks. If this is not possible, the municipality may extend this period once.

Objections and appeals

Do you disagree with the municipality's decision? Then you can lodge an objection. This allows you to let the municipality know why you disagree with the decision. You must do this within six weeks. The municipality will then review your application and make a new decision.

If you still disagree with the municipality's decision, you can ask the court to review whether the municipality made the right decision. This is called 'appealing'.
