Marco Peters
Marco Peters (CDA) has been since 2022 Alderman of the municipality of Heerlen.
"I was born in Nieuw-Einde and grew up there, and in Heerlerheide. Now I live together in Heerlen with my girlfriend Uliana and our dog Molly.
At the age of 18, I decided to go into politics. I wanted to make a difference for the people of our city. My parents and grandparents are my great role models in this. They taught me very young how important it is to be involved in one's own environment, street, neighborhood or city. And especially to have an eye for each other.
In 2010 I became a councillor for the first time. Later I also became the party leader in the municipal council. During all that time I actively sought contact with our residents. I visited people at home hundreds of times to hear what was going on and to take up matters. Politics as close as possible to our residents, that is my starting point, also now. It is a great honour and privilege that I can now serve the city and its residents as Alderman . The most important thing is to make neighborhoods and districts stronger. After all, that is where most of our lives take place. A clean, safe and green neighborhood with enough facilities where people like to live.
It's a huge challenge. But really, it should be taken for granted everywhere in our city. That's what I stand for!"
