Apply for electric car charging point

The number of electric cars in the Netherlands is rising rapidly. In the future, Heerlen will probably have more cars running on electricity than gasoline. Electric driving is becoming increasingly popular. We are therefore developing a future-proof public charging network that grows with the demand for charging stations. Residents can submit a proposal for a charging station location to Vattenfall.

Approach

Contact Vattenfall if you would like to propose a public charging point.

Cost

For the Electricity per kWh rate, check with Vattenfall.

Description

Locations for future charging stations

There will be more and more public charging stations in our municipality until 2030. We are doing this together with Vattenfall InCharge. Each charging station has 2 charging points. These new poles will not be placed just anywhere. We have identified more than 450 possible locations by looking at (technical) requirements and starting points. We do not yet know where and when charging stations will actually be installed until 2030. We always place new charging stations as information and expectations tell us how often the existing charging stations will be used. If we see that a charging station is used a lot, a new charging station will be added within a short time. This is how we ensure a future-proof network that grows with the demand for charging stations.

You cannot request a public charging station from Vattenfall. However, it is possible to submit a proposal for a new location

Parking at a charging station

Parking spaces at public charging stations are for charging electric cars. You may park your electric car here if the car is plugged in and the charging station is activated. At a charging point in an area with paid parking, you must pay a parking fee or have a parking permit. If you are parked at a public charging point and do not charge, you may be fined.

Own charging point

You may place a private charge point only on and above your own property. You can use your own charging point if you also park on your own property (driveway or garage). You may not lay a (charging) cable across the sidewalk or road. You also may not use a cable tray, mat, arm or anything else. The municipality is responsible for a safe and accessible public space.
