Distributing advertising materials

It is prohibited in Heerlen to distribute printed or written documents, pictures or goods to the public without an exemption. You may also not openly offer, recommend or publicize it in area designated by college. Apply for an exemption from the municipality.

Want to distribute advertising materials? Follow the rules for door-to-door advertising. For street advertising, you need permission from the municipality.

    • What kind of advertising material is involved
    • why you want to distribute it
    • when and at what time you want it distributed
    • where you want to distribute it

The prohibition does not apply to the door-to-door distribution or delivery of printed or written documents, images, goods, or for documents with an idealistic or philosophical content.

Terms

The conditions for door-to-door distribution of advertising include:

  • You abide by the rules about mailbox stickers.
  • On the advertisement is your contact information:
    • name
    • address
    • residence

Conditions for distributing street advertising materials include:

  • You will clean up any mess after the distribution of advertising materials.
  • Your advertising does not incite violence.
  • Your advertising will not contain sexually graphic images.

Term

The municipality decides within 8 weeks of receiving your application. The municipality may extend this period once.

Objection and appeal

You can object to the decision on your application. Do this within 6 weeks. Do you then disagree with the decision on the objection? Then file an appeal with the court.
