Heritage Year grant

Do you want to organize activities in the city for the Heritage Year? And thereby tell the story of Heerlen? If so, you may receive a grant. We encourage new ideas and collaborations between cultural institutions, associations, education and enthusiastic residents of Heerlen.

Approach

Tell us what you would like to organize and how you would like to do it.

  • Individuals with an application under €1,000 may complete the application form.
  • Neighborhood associations, foundations, clubs, etc. with an application between €1,000 and €5,000 also complete the project plan with a budget. If you need help, please contact us.
  • After the activity, complete an evaluation form to show what you did with the grant.

Description

What?

In the neighborhoods we create a program for and by all Heerlen people. Conceived and created by young and old. A mix of activities such as exhibitions, dance events or telling neighborhood stories.
We give financial support to activities that contribute to the Heritage Year.

Examples grant

You get grants for such things as lectures, walks, theater performances, concerts and debate nights. You do not get a grant for podcasts, books, magazines and documentaries. 

For whom.

Anyone may organize an activity in Heerlen for the Heritage Year. The scheme is there for individuals, but also for social groups, associations, foundations, self-employed people, informal clubs, companies and educational institutions.

Terms

The main conditions are:

  • The activity is in Heerlen
  • The activity is open to the public
  • It contributes to keeping our heritage alive

Grant up to €1,000.

  • If you are an individual and want to organize an initiative, you can apply for a maximum of €1,000 grant.
  • The applicant justifies the expenditure within three months of the initiative. The justification consists of a short report and visual material of sufficient quality. This visual material may be used by the municipality with attribution in publications.

Grant between €1,000 and a maximum of €5,000.

  • If you are a social group, educational institution, association, foundation, zzp'er, informal club or company you can apply for a maximum of €5,000 grant.
  • For applications higher than €1,000, the municipality pays a maximum of 50% of the costs.
  • For applications between €1,000 and €5,000, you must also submit a project plan.
  • The amount of the grant depends on the initiative's budget.
  • The applicant must submit a request for determination within three months of the activity.
  • Provide an evaluation of the activity, with information on how the project went.
  • The number of visitors/participants.
  • Any changes compared to the submitted plan.
  • Recommendations for next activity.
  • A financial report summarizing income and expenses appropriate to the budget.
  • Providing visual material of sufficient quality. This visual material may be used by the municipality with attribution in publications.

Term

Starting September 1, 2024, you can apply for grants. All activities take place in Heritage Year 2025.

We judge the application on its purpose, originality, collaboration and distribution across neighborhoods and districts.

We review applications at 6 points in time:

  • October 15, 2024
  • December 15, 2024
  • Feb. 15, 2025
  • April 15, 2025
  • June 15, 2025
  • September 15, 2025

You will be notified of the decision within 4 weeks of the assessment dates.
