Scattering ashes of the deceased

After cremation, next of kin do not receive the ashes of the deceased immediately. The ash container containing the ashes must be kept for at least one month. Would you like to scatter the ashes? Please contact the municipality by phone.

Would you like to scatter ashes in municipal cemeteries? Please arrange this by phone with the municipality.

To scatter ashes in the crematorium's scattering field, you may submit an application to the crematorium.

Do you want to scatter ashes in public places or on private property? If so, you may not cause a nuisance. In addition, it is prohibited to scatter ashes on:

  • the paved road
  • municipal cemeteries and
  • crematorium grounds

The municipality may also designate other places where you may not scatter ashes. You must always have permission from the owner.

Description

The urn remains at the crematorium for at least one month. After that, you may decide what you want to do with the ashes. You can scatter the ashes, take them home or have them interred in an urn wall. 

Term

The municipality will decide on your application within 2 weeks. If the municipality does not make the decision within 2 weeks, you will automatically receive the waiver.
