Description

The Personal Records Database (BRP) contains the personal data of all residents of the municipality. The government is permitted to use this data, for example for child benefit, student finance, and pensions. Sometimes your data is also passed on to others. Would you like to know which institutions receive your data? Please visit the website Wiekrijgtmijngegevens.nl.

Don't want your info shared? Just ask the city to keep your personal details private. You don't need to give a specific reason. You can also ask them to stop keeping your info private whenever you want.

Are you moving to another municipality? You do not need to reapply for confidentiality in the new municipality.

In some cases, the municipality must still pass on your personal data, even if you have requested confidentiality. This happens when government agencies want your data, such as the Tax and Customs Administration or the Social Insurance Bank (SVB).

Requirements

You can only request confidentiality for:

  • your personal data
  • the personal data of your children under the age of 16

Young people aged 16 and over must submit their own request for confidentiality.

Term

The municipality will process the confidentiality request within four weeks.
