Requesting an extract from the Personal Records Database

An extract from the Personal Records Database (BRP) contains personal data such as your name and current address. You can request this extract from the municipality where you live.

For example, you will need an extract if you want to register for housing, transfer ownership of your car, or get married or divorced. Clearly state what you need the extract for. The extract will be sent to your home address within seven working days. 

Approach

How to request an extract from the Personal Records Database:

  • Log in with your DigiD at your municipality.
  • Please enter your details.
  • You pay for the extract online when you submit your application.
  • The extract will be sent to your home within 7 business days. 
  • Are you coming to the counter? Bring your ID with you. Please note: in Heerlen, it is not possible to request a BRP extract BRP before October 1, 1994 at the counter. In that case, please fill in the contact form on our websiteor request the extract online. 

Are you requesting an extract for someone else? Then you will need: 

  • A written authorization from the person concerned.
  • A copy of the person's identification document.

Costs

Rates for 2025

  • €12.65 if you request and pay for the BRP online (using DigiD). If you do not pay, we will not process your request.
  • €20.15 if you apply at the counter or in writing.

Rates for 2026

  • €13.00 if you request and pay for the BRP online (using DigiD). If you do not pay, we will not process your request.
  • €20.65 if you apply at the counter or in writing

Check carefully which extract you need and request the correct one. You pay when you submit your request. If you request the wrong extract, we will not refund the costs.

Description

The Personal Records Database (BRP) contains information about all residents of the Netherlands. You can request a copy of your own data. This is called an extract. It includes your name, date of birth, place of birth, and current address.

Authorities may BRP an extract from the BRP . For example, you can show a housing association that you are registered with the municipality.

Are you traveling abroad with a child under the age of 18? Request an extract for traveling with minors. This contains the child's details and who has parental authority. This can be useful during border checks. 

The BRP back to October 1, 1994. Do you need older data? You can request this from the municipality where you lived at the time. 

Parents or guardians are not required to submit an extract from the BRP the school when enrolling their child in a program!
