A certified copy or certified transcript certifies that the copy or transcript corresponds to the original. You can have a document certified by the municipality.

How to have an important document certified by the municipality:

  • Please contact the municipality.
  • Bring the document you want to have certified. You may authorize someone else to do this for you.

Description

You can ask the municipality to certify a copy of a document. This means that the copy contains exactly the same information as the original. 

The municipality does not certify diplomas.

It is important to prevent fraud when verifying diplomas.
Contact the educational institution to check whether the diploma or certificate was issued by them. DUO has a diploma register for individuals and companies. Visit the DUO website.
