To start an address search, you will need:

  • your valid proof of identity
  • proof that you are the owner or tenant of the property
  • if necessary, the details of the person or persons concerned

Description

Everyone is registered at an address with the municipality. This can be a residential address or a mailing address. If you are unsure whether your address details are correct, the municipality must initiate an investigation.

Is someone registered at your address who does not live with you? If so, request an address investigation from the municipality.

The municipality cannot simply deregister a resident who has moved away. This is only possible:

  • if the departing resident reports the move themselves or
  • if the municipality has conducted an investigation and has been unable to determine a new address

Term

The investigation will take a maximum of 3 months.

At the municipality of Heerlen, the investigation takes an average of six weeks.

Objections and appeals

The person concerned may lodge an objection within six weeks of the date of the decision.
