Description

You can ask a safety region for information about crisis plans. These are plans for preventing fires, disasters and crises.

The Netherlands is divided into 25 safety regions. In a safety region, the fire department, municipality, police and medical assistance work together. Safety regions combat disasters and accidents. They also provide crisis management.

A safety region prepares crisis plans (also called disaster response plans) for companies and institutions. These include at least:

  • which persons and agencies are involved
  • who takes what action
  • who informs the public and what measures are needed to do so

For example, there are crisis plans for chemical plants, hospitals, airports or for flooding caused by a levee breach.

A security region draws up a regional risk profile, a regional policy plan and a regional crisis plan at least once every 4 years.
