Apply for the allowance once every 12 months. Apply on time, because the supplement is not retroactive.

Description

You may spend the money freely. For example, on items that you may have difficulty paying for on a minimum income, such as a new refrigerator or television.

The amount of the supplement is for:

  • Single person: €458.
  • Single parent: €528.
  • Married/cohabitants: € 324.
  • Cost share: € 279.

Terms

When can you qualify for an individual income supplement? 

  • You live in Heerlen when you apply.
  • You are 21 years of age or older, but under the state pension age.
  • You have no prospect of improving your income.
  • You did not receive an income supplement 12 months prior to your application.
  • Your assets on the application date do not exceed those allowed in the Participation Act:
    • For single persons: €7,575.00
    • For married couples and single parents: €15,150.00 
  • Your income must be low for at least 36 months from the date of application. Low income is: an income at the social assistance level applicable to you.
  • You have no prospect of improving your income. This is the case if: 

    • You are totally and permanently disabled. (80-100% disability).

    • At most, you can do volunteer work, or equivalent non-regular work. Doing that work fulfills your work obligations.

    • If it is unclear whether you have any prospect of income improvement, we may conduct an investigation. If you do not want to participate in such an investigation, we cannot determine your entitlement to the income supplement. 

Term

The municipality decides within 8 weeks of receiving your application. The municipality may extend this period once.

Objection and appeal

You can object to the decision on your application within 6 weeks. Do you then disagree with the decision on the objection? Then file an appeal with the court.
