Low income assistance

Are you a resident of the municipality of Heerlen and have an income at or around the social minimum? Then there are numerous schemes or provisions you can make use of. Both for extra income and an allowance in costs as for example food, clothing and home furnishings.

  • Applying for special assistance

    Do you have a low income and unexpected high expenses? If so, you can apply for special assistance.

  • Fit and Fun arrangement

    The Fit and Fun benefit is a contribution to the cost of individual community, social, sports and/or cultural activities for 18 year olds and older.

  • Relief for the chronically ill and disabled

    Illness, disability and/or old age bring additional costs. You may be able to get money from the municipality for these costs.

  • Help with money problems

    Are you in debt? The administration not in order? Do you get reminders or sometimes can't pay your bills? You can ask us for help.

  • Help with energy costs

    Can you no longer pay your energy bill due to high energy costs? Then you may be able to get reimbursement for the cost or help with energy savings.

  • Child package

    In Heerlen, we want children to grow up healthy and safe. Sometimes this requires a hand. The Child Package is a collection of schemes, which can help.

  • Food Bank

    If you have a low income and don't have enough left over for food, you can get a food package from the food bank once a week.

  • Collective health insurance

    The municipality offers group health insurance. This saves you money. You can take advantage of this if you have a minimum income.
