Description

The study allowance is an allowance for students with disabilities. The idea behind the supplement is that your disability makes it difficult or impossible for you to have a side job in addition to your studies.

How high is the allowance per month?

  • 21 years and older: €352.80
  • 20 years: €282.23
  • 19 years: €211.67
  • 18 years: €176.40
  • 17 years: €139.35
  • 16 years: €121.71
  • 15 years: €105.84

If you are married and you both meet the requirements, you are each entitled to the supplement separately.

Good to know:

  • Do you get an internship stipend? Internship is often a mandatory part of a study. The allowance for internship compensation is €211.67. Do you receive more? Then we will deduct this from the study allowance.      
  • You can apply retroactively if you were entitled to the study allowance during that period and the effective date is on or after April 1.
  • The duration of study allowance runs concurrently with the duration of study financing (WSF) or education contribution and school expenses allowance (WTOS).

Terms

You qualify for the study grant if you:

  • Are 15 years of age or older
  • does not receive Wajong benefits
  • Studiefinanciering (WSF) or receive a contribution through Wet-tegemoetkoming-onderwijsbijdrage-en-schoolkosten (WTOS).
    Note: You are not entitled to the study allowance if you receive a lifelong learning loan.   
  • are permanently unable to earn income alongside your studies due to an illness or disability. Permanent means that no improvement can be expected in the short term.
    • If you can demonstrate that your disability is permanent and sufficiently severe, a medical opinion is not necessary. We will then assess your eligibility on the basis of your details.
    • If you cannot prove that the disability is permanent and sufficiently severe, the municipality can request a medical examination.

Term

Only when we have all the requested information will team Income make a decision within 8 weeks.

Objection and appeal

You can object to the decision on your application within 6 weeks. The decision will tell you how to do that.
