Child package

In Heerlen, we want children to grow up healthy and safe. Sometimes you need a hand with that. The Child Package is a collection of schemes, which can help you with the healthy and safe growth of your child. Through these arrangements, children can, for example, play sports, celebrate their birthdays or ride their bikes to school.

An overview of the schemes

Whether you qualify for these benefits from the Child Package is listed in the schemes themselves. There you will also find how to apply for the scheme.

  • Applying for guidance for school leaver

    Is your child leaving school early? A counselor will help and see if the young person can return to school. The use of assistance is also possible.

  • Applying for youth assistance

    Unemployed and between the ages of 18 and 27? Apply for benefits. Please note that special Requirements apply.

  • Bicycle project

    For children up to and including elementary school, the municipality of Heerlen has its own bicycle project. It is run by Werk voor Heerlen.

  • Fit and Fun arrangement

    The Fit and Fun benefit is a contribution to the cost of individual community, social, sports and/or cultural activities for 18 year olds and older.

  • Youth Culture Fund

    All children should be able to participate in cultural activities. The Youth Culture Fund helps when that is financially difficult.

  • Youth Education Fund

    Is lack of money an obstacle to your child's development? Then the school can appeal to the Youth Education Fund.

  • Using child care

    Are you having trouble paying for child care? You may qualify for a contribution from the municipality.

  • Clothing packages

    Do you need clothes or shoes for your child and can't pay for it yourself? Then the clothing bank or Foundation STOP can help you.

  • Applying for pupil transportation

    Is your child unable to go to school by himself? You may receive pupil transportation from the municipality.

  • School swimming

    The municipality subsidizes school swimming. Children who fall within the target group receive an enrollment form from school.

  • Sjpruut sjop and baby starter kit

    Meet other moms and dads (to-be), find a buddy for some extra support or receive a baby starter kit at Sjpruut.

  • Youth sports allowance

    All children should be able to be members of an association. This is not possible for all children. The Jeugdfonds Sport can help

  • Foundation Leergeld Parkstad

    Would you like your child to be able to participate in everything, such as music lessons, sports lessons or birthday celebrations? Or does your child need a bicycle, for example? Then Stichting Leergeld Parkstad can help you.

  • Study funding

    Will your child turn 18 soon and still attend school? Then you can apply for study financing. In addition, there are other schemes to apply for an allowance for school and study.

  • Study allowance

    Are you studying and are you unable or less able to earn a little extra because of your disability? Then you may be entitled to a study allowance.
