Child package

In Heerlen, we want children to grow up healthy and safe. Sometimes you need a helping hand to achieve this. The Child Package is a collection of schemes that can help you raise your child in a healthy and safe environment. These schemes enable children to participate in sports, celebrate their birthdays, or cycle to school, for example.

An overview of the regulations

Whether you are eligible for these reimbursements from the Child Package is specified in the regulations themselves. These also explain how you can apply for the scheme.

  • Applying for assistance for young people

    Unemployed and between 18 and 27 years old? Apply for benefits. Please note: special Requirements apply.

  • Bicycle project

    For children up to and including elementary school, the municipality of Heerlen has its own bicycle project. Work for Heerlen carries this out....

  • Fit and Fun scheme

    The Fit and Fun allowance is a contribution towards social, sporting, or cultural activities for people aged 18 and over on minimum income.

  • Youth Culture Fund

    All children should be able to participate in cultural activities. The Youth Culture Fund helps if this is financially difficult.

  • Youth Education Fund

    Is a lack of money hindering your child's development? If so, the school can apply to the Youth Education Fund.

  • Using childcare

    Are you having trouble paying for childcare? You may be eligible for a contribution from the municipality.

  • Clothing packages

    Do you need clothes or shoes for your child and are you unable to pay for them yourself? Then the clothing bank or Stichting STOP can help you.

  • Student transportation

    Is your child unable to get to school on their own? You may be eligible for school transportation provided by the municipality.

  • School swimming

    The municipality subsidizes school swimming lessons. Children who fall within the target group will receive a registration form from their school.

  • Baby shop and baby starter kit

    Meet other moms and dads (to-be), find a buddy for some extra support, or receive a baby starter kit at Sjpruut.

  • Sports allowance for young people

    All children should be able to join a club. This is not possible for all children. The Youth Sports Fund can help.

  • Parkstad Learning Fund Foundation

    Would you like your child to be able to participate in everything, such as music lessons, sports lessons, or birthday celebrations? Or does your child need a bicycle, for example? Then Stichting Leergeld Parkstad can help you.

  • Student financing

    Is your child turning 18 soon and still attending school? If so, you can apply for student financing. In addition, there are other schemes you can apply for to receive compensation for school and study expenses.

  • Study allowance

    Are you a student and unable to earn extra income, or less able to do so, due to your disability? Then you may be entitled to a study allowance.
