Birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates
An extract or copy of the civil registry is written proof of, for example, a birth or marriage. You can request this from the municipality where the event took place.
You can apply for this for yourself, a parent, or a child.

Approach
How to request an extract or copy from the civil registry:
- You must go to the municipality where the event took place. Would you like to apply for a divorce certificate or a certificate of termination of partnership? If so, you must do this at the municipality where you were married or where you entered into the partnership.
- Log in with your DigiD at the municipality to request the extract or copy online.
- You pay for the extract or copy online.
- The extract or copy will be sent to your home address.

Do you live abroad and need an extract?
- Apply online and pay via iDeal or credit card.
- Authorize someone else to apply on your behalf.
You can request a multilingual extract for use abroad. To do so, make an appointment at the counter. The information is available in the following languages:

Requests for someone else
Are you requesting the extract for someone else? If so, please also bring:
- A signed letter stating why the applicant needs the extract and that he/she authorizes you.
- A copy of the applicant's identity document.
- Bring your own ID.
