Notification or permit organizing event

A large event attracts many people and can be a nuisance. To organize an event, you always need an event permit. You apply for the permit(s) with the municipality.

For a small event, a notification may be sufficient. Report the date of the event as soon as possible with a preliminary notice. The municipality considers spreading events in time and type when evaluating the permit.

Approach

This is how you organize an event:

  • Complete the digital EventAssistant.
  • Do you have questions or need help completing the Event Assistant? Call the Permits/Events Team: phone 14045 or email evenementen@heerlen.nl.
  • Need a permit? Apply for it at least 8 and up to 26 weeks before the event.
  • Is a notification sufficient? Notify the event at least 4 weeks in advance.

Cost

Reporting an event or applying for an event permit is free of charge.

Description

When you make a notification through the EvenementAssistent web service, you will receive a list of questions. We ask these questions to assess the risks of an event. We automatically request advice from the emergency services. The risk determines whether your event requires notification or a permit. If necessary, you will receive a safety plan. You complete this plan.

Term

The municipality decides within 8 weeks of receiving your application. The municipality may extend this period once.

If it is a high-risk event, then the decision period is longer.

Objection and appeal

You can object to the decision on your application. Do this within 6 weeks. Do you then disagree with the decision on the objection? Then file an appeal with the court.
