Youth Sports Subsidy and Heerlen Sports Pass

All children should be able to join a club. This isn’t possible for all children. The Youth Sports Fund can help.
For children from low-income families, the Youth Sports Fund covers:

  • the membership fee for the sports club
  • and the cost of sports equipment

Young people between the ages of 12 and 23 will receive a €100 sports credit to participate in sports activities in Heerlen. With the sports pass, you can discover which sport is right for you.

Approach

Parents and young people cannot apply to the Sport Fund on their own. Please contact the Stichting Leergeld Parkstad. They will submit an online application on your child’s behalf.
Another professional involved in your child’s upbringing can also submit an application on your behalf. For example, a teacher, youth counselor, social worker, or family doctor. They can submit the application on the Jeugdfonds Sport website.

Young people can apply for the €100 sports credit themselves online at Sportpas Heerlen. You’ll receive a yellow envelope containing your personal sports credit! Want to see where you can redeem your credit? Visit the Sportpas Heerlen website.

Description

Youth Sports Fund

The Youth Sports Fund is for children and young people aged 4 to 18. The grant is up to €225 per child per year. Parents or guardians must encourage their child to attend classes, practices, and competitions. An intermediary checks whether your child has been attending practices regularly over an extended period.
You can apply for a grant from the Youth Sports Fund every year.
You will not receive any money yourself. The Jeugdfonds Sport pays the sports club or sports store. Or your child receives a gift certificate from a sports store. The child may choose their own sports clothing or sports equipment.

Another professional involved in your child's upbringing can also submit an application on your behalf. This could be a teacher, youth worker, social worker, or family doctor. They can submit the application on the Jeugdfonds Sport website.
