The costs depend on which environmental permits you need. If the administrative fees regulation does not apply, we will charge the quarter-hourly rate. The quarter-hourly rate is €20.65 (rate 2026).
Description
Due to the nationwide fireworks ban, you may now only set off F1 fireworks. F1 fireworks are those that pose very little danger and produce very little noise, such as sparklers, firecrackers, and string fireworks. You are not allowed to set off more dangerous fireworks.
Associations and Foundations
An exception applies to associations and foundations. Would you like to set off F2 fireworks on behalf of an association or foundation? If so, you can apply for an exemption from the municipality. F2 fireworks are fireworks that pose a slight risk, such as ground flowers and spinning tops.
Have you been granted an exemption? If so, you are allowed to set off certain types of F2 fireworks. Are you planning to set off fireworks? If so, strict rules apply. For example:
- You may set off fireworks only between 6:00 p.m. on December 31 and 2:00 a.m. on January 1.
- Anyone setting off fireworks must not consume alcohol or drugs.
- There is a supervisor. The supervisor oversees the cutting process. The supervisor is also prohibited from using alcohol or drugs.
- The person setting off the fireworks and the supervisor must be 18 years of age or older.
- Keep a distance of at least 15 meters from other people.
- Please return any leftover fireworks to the seller.
Professional Fireworks
Fireworks that pose a greater risk may only be set off by authorized professionals. These include fireworks in categories F3 (such as large batteries) and F4 (such as large mortar bombs). This also applies to F2 fireworks that are not designated as consumer fireworks.
Would you like to set off fireworks like these? The municipality cannot grant permission for this. You need permission from the ILT and the province to do so.
Requirements
Would you like to apply for an exemption to set off F2 fireworks? The municipality will review your application. In any case, you must meet the following Requirements:
- The association has a clear connection to the municipality.
- You may only set off designated F2 fireworks.
- There is also someone present to oversee the process: the supervisor. You are the one who appoints the supervisor.
- The person setting off the fireworks and the supervisor must not consume alcohol or drugs.
- The supervisor and the person setting off the fireworks must be 18 years of age or older.
- You may set off up to 200 kg of fireworks.
- In addition, the following applies to these fireworks:
- It may only be set off by persons 18 years of age or older
- It may only be set off between 6:00 p.m. on December 31 and 2:00 a.m. on January 1
- It may only be set off at the location and in accordance with the Requirements specified in the exemption

Term
As a foundation or association, be sure to apply for the exemption in a timely manner. The municipality needs time to review your application.
The municipality will make a decision within 8 weeks of receiving your application for an exemption. The municipality may extend this deadline once.
Objections and appeals
Do you disagree with the municipality’s decision? If so, you can file an objection. By doing so, you explain why you disagree with the decision. Other people who are directly affected by the decision may also file an objection. You must file an objection within 6 weeks. The municipality will then make a new decision.
Do you disagree with the new decision? Then you can ask the court whether the municipality has made the right decision. This is called 'appealing'. You must do this within six weeks. You can only appeal if you have lodged an objection.
