City Council

The Heerlen City Council has 37 members. The council sets policy (broadly speaking) and makes the important decisions, such as setting the budget. Monthly, council members debate with each other during council meetings and committee meetings.

The 37 seats on the Heerlen City Council for the period 2022-2026 are distributed as follows:

  • CDA: 6 seats
  • OPH: 5 seats
  • Jongerenpartij: 3 seats
  • PHB, VVD, PVV, D66 and Fractie Damen: 2 seats each
  • PvdD, FvD, GroenLinks, Hart-Leers and PvdA: 1 seat each
